Back to School

We’ll I’m sure it wasn’t long enough for the girls but they are back in school now. All it all things really worked out for them. Emily’s teacher moved up to first grade and has both Emily and Alyssa in her class. The physical class room turns out to be the same class room Alyssa had last year. So they are about as comfortable as they can be. Although they were looking forward to starting the first grade, their enthusiasm was nothing like it was for kindergarten and it didn’t take nearly as long before I heard the words “I don’t want to go to school today” come mumbling out of a face buried in a warm morning pillow.

The girls did get to take care of the class room pet over the summer, which turn out to be their class room pet again this year. He was a Mali Uromastyx Lizard from Sudan and his name is Spike. I actually started a Blog for him, but we all know how good I am and doing the “daily entry” thing. But there are some good pictures up there and worth taking a look at. Check out Spikes Blog .

Myself, not much going on. We finished a rather disappointing baseball season and I think it’s time for me to take a break. I decided to not play this fall and spend the time getting some projects done and doing fun things with the girls. I don’t know why I feel like this is such a big void in my life. Growing up back east, we never played in the Fall / Winter time and I always “took it off” even if it wasn’t by chose. But since moving to sunny San Diego, playing baseball year around is just something you expect to do. In any event, I’m not hanging up my glove for good yet, I’ll be back out there in the Spring if not sooner.
