Other Stuff
There are tons and tons of other freeware and open source software out there for Windows just look around and just about everything you might want to do you can do for free. A few others should haves are
Adaware and Spybot Search and Destory – No matter how hard you try, Spyware will always manage to find its way onto your system. These two programs go a long way at cleaning them out when it happens.
7-Zip – If your not using XP then chances are you need a program to uncompress those pesky .ZIP files. 7-Zip is great for that.
And finally there are two other projects I can point you to that can pretty much provide you with a Free Open Source versions of software that will do just about everything for you. TheOpenCD and GNUWin II. There’s not enough time or digital paper to tell you all the great things there is about these two projects. Let’s just say they are a great resource and I highly recommend checking them both out and seeing what they have to offer because they have tons of application.
One finally note, Open Source Projects are a great resource, but I beg you not to just take advantage of the awesome services they have to offer. If you can, in any fashion, find a way to support this projects, especially the ones you really find useful, please do so. Whether it is by money, contribution, development or anything else you can do. It’s good karma and will come back around I promise.
